How winners are chosen
From the rankings to the award
Tailors do not enter. We choose each winner from the ten tailors in that city’s ranking, judged on the same four tests behind every score: cut, fit, reputation and service.
April
Rankings published
The year’s rankings for every city are published, with a score for each tailor.
May to October
Visits and wear tests
Critics commission clothes, attend every fitting and wear the finished work.
November
Winners chosen
We review the year’s scores and the critics’ notes and choose the Tailor of the Year in each city.
December
Winners announced
The winners are published here, and each receives the TailorGuide Awards certificate.

Who chooses the winners?
We do. Each Tailor of the Year is chosen from the ten tailors in that city’s ranking, using the same four tests behind every score and the critics’ notes from each visit, fitting and wear test.
Can a tailor enter?
No. There is nothing to enter: every winner comes from our rankings, which our critics build by visiting tailors as ordinary clients.
Is Tailor of the Year always the top of the ranking?
Not always. The ranking judges a tailor over time; the award recognizes the finest work of the year. Often they are the same tailor.
What does a winner receive?
Each Tailor of the Year receives the TailorGuide Awards certificate for that year. Every genuine winner is listed on this page; if you are unsure about a certificate, email contact@tailorguide.net and we will check it.
