How we work
Disclosure
How we review tailors, how our rankings and awards are decided, and what you should know when you use them.
Last updated 15 October 2026
1.Our independence
TailorGuide’s rankings, scores, guides and awards carry no paid endorsements of any kind. Every tailor in a ranking is judged on the same four tests: cut and construction, fit and fittings, reputation over time, and service.
Tailors do not see or approve what we write before it is published. How we rate tailors explains the tests, the weights and how a score is built.
2.How we review
- Our critics book like any other client, without announcing who they are.
- They choose a fabric and commission clothes, paid for in full like any other order.
- They attend every fitting and wear the finished clothes for months before a score is given.
- Each score is checked again before a list is published, and every list is reviewed in full once a year.
3.The TailorGuide Awards
Tailors do not enter the TailorGuide Awards. Each year we name the Tailor of the Year in every city we rank, chosen from that city’s ranking using the same four tests. Only the winners listed on our awards page may use the awards name, logo and certificate.
4.Links to tailors
Our pages link to tailors’ websites, booking pages, maps and social accounts so that you can contact them directly. We do not earn a commission when you follow these links or place an order.
5.Prices and photographs
Prices are approximate starting prices for a two-piece suit, converted into US dollars when a list is updated and shown with the year they were published. Always confirm the current price with the tailor.
Photographs of tailors’ shops and work are real photographs of those businesses. Illustrations and general images elsewhere on the site are there to illustrate an article and do not show a specific tailor.
6.Corrections
If a fact on TailorGuide is wrong or out of date, tell us at contact@tailorguide.net. We check every report and correct mistakes promptly. Tailors can use the same address to update their address, opening hours, prices or booking details; see for tailors.
