Jantzen belongs in a conversation about Hong Kong shirts rather than suits. Its reputation in the local press rests on shirts: Localiiz picked out the split yoke, which lets the fabric fall cleanly over the shoulder, and a long tail that stays tucked in, and said a shirt can be made in two days. Readers on Permanent Style and StyleForum have described the shirts as cheap and good value, though not all were happy with the service or the fabrics.
The suits are a more modest proposition. Jantzen says it makes them in its own factory, after a consultation, measurements and a fitting in a basted or unfinished state, and Honeycombers counted more than 1,000 suit fabrics in 2024. But it names no cutter, does not say where its factory is and publishes no prices. The turnaround reported by HK Magazine, about a week with two or three fittings, belongs to Hong Kong's quick custom trade, not to the six weeks WW Chan gives for a bespoke suit.
The history is also thin. The firm gives 1968 as its founding date, while an undated South China Morning Post profile said the shop was opened by David Wong and Ricky Ho about 20 years before it was written, at World Wide House on the same street. Neither date can be confirmed from other sources.
Choose Jantzen for shirts made quickly at a fair price, and for a simple suit or tuxedo if you are already there. For a suit cut over several fittings by a named tailor, the bespoke tailors higher on this list are the better choice. The studio is open late, until 8pm from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays.
