The Anthology is the clearest example of Hong Kong's newer tailoring: design-led, international in outlook and built around a recognizable silhouette. Buzz Tang, who grew up in Hong Kong, studied at the London College of Fashion and spent time with London fabric merchants, founded it in 2018 with Andy Chong, a pattern cutter and tailor with his own workshop in mainland China. Simon Crompton of Permanent Style, who reviewed its bespoke in 2019 and again in January 2026, describes it as more of a design-led brand than most small tailoring firms.
The cut is soft and Florentine in origin: a wide, unpadded shoulder with a little extension, wide lapels with a low gorge, fullness through the chest and back, and open, curved fronts. Early commissions were fairly close-fitting; Crompton found his 2026 double-breasted suit more relaxed, and judged the fabric selection one of the brand's strongest points. The Anthology weaves exclusive fabrics with mills including Fox Brothers, and its unstructured Lazyman jacket has become a signature.
The main qualification is where the work is done. The clothes are made in Chong's workshop in mainland China, with fittings in Hong Kong and at trunk shows; Crompton's 2019 suit had two fittings in a trial fabric. That is a different model from W.W. Chan, which cuts and sews in Hong Kong. Hong Kong prices are not published; Permanent Style gave bespoke suits from $4,000 in 2026, with made-to-measure and ready-to-wear well below that. Its editor has also designed a coat with the brand, so its praise is not wholly independent.
Choose The Anthology for a soft, modern suit with good fabrics and a consistent style, from a studio with a showroom in Central, a shop in Tsim Sha Tsui and stores in Taipei and Shanghai. Those who want a suit cut and sewn in Hong Kong by Shanghainese tailors should start at W.W. Chan.
