House of Parmar is two businesses under one family. Parmar Tailors, which the firm itself describes as made-to-measure, serves the everyday market from Al Fahidi Street in Bur Dubai and Al Mas Tower in JLT. Bespoke, its upmarket arm, opened at The Gate in DIFC in 2006, and is where a pattern is drafted for one client and the suit is built over several fittings. For a bespoke commission, go to DIFC.
The history is well documented. Pitamber Parmar arrived from Bombay on 10 June 1956 and opened a shop in Bur Dubai; Esquire Middle East reports that early customers included British Army officers. The business declined after he stepped back in 1976, and he and his son Prakash rebuilt it in the 1980s. By 2015 it employed about 140 people, including 90 tailors, 25 of them working only for Bespoke, and in 2017 it opened a production house built for 150 tailors.
The process at Bespoke follows the Savile Row sequence in compressed form: a first fitting in a basted garment of trial fabric, a forward fitting and a final fitting, with delivery in about four weeks. Esquire Middle East's writer sat through a first fitting in 2020 and reported that patterns are stored digitally, so repeat orders need fewer fittings. Fabrics come from Zegna, Loro Piana, Scabal and other mills. The firm does not publish prices; The National put them from about $1,100 in 2015, and Gulf News in 2021 gave a range of $550 to $34,000 across the business.
Choose Bespoke for a first true bespoke suit in Dubai from a firm with a long record and its own workshop. Four weeks is fast by London standards, and independent reviews of the finished work are scarce, so book an appointment and ask for a current quote before committing.
