M2M is a family business with deeper roots in Dubai tailoring than its 2009 opening suggests. Kishanchand Ramchandani came to the UAE in 1965 and opened a small tailoring shop in Meena Bazaar in 1981. His son, Kamlesh, moved to Dubai in 1986 and in December 2009 opened M2M in a villa in Jumeirah, with the ground floor given to bespoke tailoring. He still leads the business as founder and chairman.
It describes its construction more precisely than most Dubai tailors. M2M says its jackets are built on a hand-stitched floating canvas of cotton, horsehair and camel hair rather than fused interlining, that each suit is basted for a trial fitting, and that a bespoke suit takes two to three fittings. It describes bespoke as a design from scratch, and says garments are made in its own workshop by a master tailor. The Dubai Hills Mall store has a measuring room, a raised fitting room and a workspace for craftsmen at the back. Fabrics come from Loro Piana, Zegna, Scabal, Holland & Sherry and Cerruti.
Price is harder to pin down. M2M does not publish prices. Gulf Business put suits from $490 in 2012, and an undated Arabian Business guide gave $650 to more than $2,700; ask for a quote in your chosen fabric. Allow time: the company recommends ordering a wedding suit three to four months ahead and says six to eight weeks is workable.
Choose M2M for a canvassed business or wedding suit from an established, family-run tailor with stores in Jumeirah, Dubai Hills and Business Bay. It names no cutter, no independent review describes its house style, and it also sells ethnic wear and accessories, so clients who want one cutter's signature should look to a smaller atelier. Against Collars & Cuffs, it offers a longer record and a fuller account of how its suits are built, though no current price.
