Jesse & Son Custom Tailor

Jesse & Son Custom Tailor is one of Bangkok's most highly rated bespoke tailors, founded in 2013 and now run by the second generation, led by Manop Charaschanya. Its clients are mostly business travelers and working professionals from around the world, who come for a modern fit at good value.

Its roots go back to Udon Thani in northeast Thailand, where the founder, Jesse, also known as Suthep, began his career making clothes for American servicemen stationed there. He later moved to Bangkok and opened a tailoring business called Bangkok Fashions under a business partnership, and he has now spent more than 30 years in the trade. In 2013 the family started its own business, first on Sukhumvit Soi 19, and in 2020 it moved to a larger location on Sukhumvit Soi 10.

Suits sit at the center of the work, alongside shirts, trousers, jackets, tuxedos, overcoats and wedding suits, and women can have suits and dresses made to order. The business also makes custom shoes. With its own workshop of more than 20 tailors, it can work across many styles, from classic British and classic American to modern slim, and its signature look combines a soft shoulder, a slim waist and a modern Italian line. Fabrics include wool, cotton, linen and silk from leading European mills, with premium linings and buttons to finish them.

Work begins with a consultation, where the client chooses the fabric, cut and details, followed by detailed measurements. A paper pattern is then cut by hand for that client alone, and jackets are built on a horsehair canvas that runs up into the lapels, with hand-finished collars and handmade buttonholes on its premium fabrics. Clients usually have one or two fittings, and more are available until they are happy with the fit. Most suits are ready in two to four days, with an express service for those in a hurry.

Prices begin at about $340 for a two-piece bespoke suit, rising with finer fabrics and added details, and a premium customization package is available for jackets. Finished garments can be shipped abroad, and the business has been featured by Time Out Bangkok and Masala Magazine.
