Narry Bespoke Tailors

Narry Bespoke Tailors is one of Bangkok's longest-established names in bespoke tailoring. Its founder, Narinder "Narry" Suriya-Amrit, opened his first showroom in 1977 and still runs the business with his son, Chad, serving travelers, expatriates and business visitors from around the world.

Narry grew up in the textile trade, working at his father's fabric store in Bangkok, before going into tailoring himself. The business says it received the Golden Shield Award in 1991, and in 2015 Narry was the subject of a short documentary, Narry the Tailor. It now works from a flagship on Sukhumvit Soi 11/1, near BTS Nana, and a second showroom on Charoen Krung Road, next to the Lebua hotel.

The range runs from suits, shirts and tuxedos to waistcoats and overcoats, while women can have suits, blouses and dresses made to order. It can also copy a client's favorite garment. Suits are cut in classic and modern styles and built with a full canvas, and the fabric selection runs from everyday wools to premium fabrics, with every detail open to customization.

Orders begin with a consultation, followed by 20 to 30 measurements, from which a pattern is drafted for the client alone. The suit is made in the business's own workshop and finished with details such as hand-shanked buttons and pick stitching. Most suits take two to three days with one or two fittings, while shirts and trousers can be ready in 24 to 48 hours.

Two-piece suits start from about $235, and premium suits run from about $440 to $1,030. The team offers free hotel pickup by prepaid car, with no obligation to buy, keeps measurements on file for online reorders, and holds trunk shows abroad, including in New York, Washington, Chicago, London, Zurich, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
