Anderson & Sheppard's Haberdashery introduces ready-to-wear tailoring

The unlined, lightly built line in cord and heavy cotton sits between the shop's travel jackets and the house's bespoke tailoring on Old Burlington Street.

The Anderson & Sheppard Haberdashery, the ready-to-wear shop of the London bespoke tailor, has introduced ready-to-wear tailoring for the first time, Permanent Style reported on 21 March 2025. The new line, launched in the preceding weeks, includes single- and double-breasted suits and an unstructured jacket priced at $3,400.

The garments are built without padding and with only a small piece of canvas in the shoulder, and they are unlined except in the sleeves. The first fabrics were baby cord and heavy cotton, including a bottle-green cord and a gray-blue heavy cotton. Jackets in navy cord and chocolate cotton followed, along with trousers sold separately. Permanent Style said the clothes are made by Belvest.

Where it sits in the range

Permanent Style compared the new jacket with two existing Anderson & Sheppard prices: the Haberdashery's travel jackets, at $2,800, and a bespoke jacket from the house, at $5,900 including VAT. The ready-to-wear line therefore sits closer to the shop's own clothing than to a commission from the cutting room.

Anda Rowland, who leads Anderson & Sheppard, founded the Haberdashery in 2012. The house now runs two shops: the bespoke tailor on Old Burlington Street and the Haberdashery on Clifford Street, according to Spear's. The shop had already sold travel jackets, chore jackets, raglan coats and jersey blazers, but not suits. A member of the shop staff told Permanent Style that customers had always gone to Old Burlington Street for business suits or dinner suits.

A busier house

The launch came during a period of growth for the firm, which Rowland's late father, Tiny Rowland, previously owned. In a Spear's interview published in July 2025, she said Anderson & Sheppard had six young apprentices and received about six apprenticeship applications a week on average. In 2024 she spoke in support of the redevelopment of the former police station at 27 Savile Row, which includes a home for a tailoring school.

“There’s definitely a new energy on Savile Row.”

What it means for buyers

For a buyer, the new line offers an Anderson & Sheppard label on soft, casual tailoring without the time a bespoke commission takes. It is not a substitute for bespoke: the garments are made in standard sizes by an outside maker, and Permanent Style noted that the gaps between sizes are fairly small, so fit across the shoulders and seat matters when choosing. The reviewer, who normally wears an Italian 50, found the next size up fitted his shoulders better in the jacket.
