A toile fitting, then further fittings as needed

Cad & The Dandy offers Savile Row bespoke in New York for less than most of its rivals. James Sleater and Ian Meiers founded it in 2008, grew it into a large business with shops in London, Stockholm and New York, and in 2023 Sleater bought a majority stake in Norton & Sons, one of the Row's oldest firms. The New York penthouse on West 57th Street opened in 2018; in late 2024 the firm added a 1,500-square-foot shop at street level, with a private room, a bar and a workshop.

Its strength is a clear, efficient process. Every new suit starts with a toile, a trial garment in plain fabric, which Time Out says comes about three weeks after the first appointment, followed by a final fitting. Collection is usually about 10 weeks after the first meeting, quicker than many Savile Row firms. The firm says all garments are made by hand and in-house, never outsourced, with more than 60 hours of work in each suit.

Price is the other draw. In London a two-piece starts at $2,400 and rises with the fabric; Luxury Travel Magazine put the New York starting price at about $2,500 in 2026, and bespoke shirts start at $260. Time Out notes that the price sits below local competitors. The cut, with lighter shoulder padding and a more pronounced waist, is trimmer and more modern than Huntsman's.

Choose Cad & The Dandy for a first bespoke suit, a wedding or formalwear such as morning dress. It is a larger operation than the independent tailors on this list, and the firm does not say which garments for New York clients are made in New York and which in London.
