Bangkok has a great many tailors, and the good ones share a few habits you can check in a single visit. They cut a pattern for you, book at least one fitting, show you the fabric book your suit comes from and put the price in writing. This checklist covers what to look for, from the pattern and the fabric to turnaround, aftercare and reviews, with examples from the ten tailors on our Bangkok ranking.

What should you look for in a Bangkok tailor?
Look for a tailor who makes a pattern for you, offers at least one fitting, shows you real fabric books, writes down the price and gives you a date that leaves room for adjustments. Good aftercare and a record of returning customers matter too. The checklist below works for any tailor in the city.
Eight signs of a good Bangkok tailor
- Cuts a personal paper pattern from your measurements and keeps it on file.
- Books at least one fitting before the suit is finished, and more if needed.
- Shows you fabric books with the mill, fiber content and weight on each swatch.
- Explains how the price changes with the fabric before you choose.
- Gives you a written quote that names the fabric, the price and the dates.
- Sets a turnaround that leaves time for a fitting before you fly.
- Offers adjustments after collection and takes reorders from abroad.
- Has recent reviews that describe the fit, not just the welcome.
How is your pattern made?
The pattern decides the fit, so ask about it first. In bespoke tailoring the cutter drafts a paper pattern from your measurements and posture, then corrects it at your fittings. A personal pattern handles the things a standard size cannot, such as one shoulder lower than the other, a forward neck or a fuller seat. It also gives the tailor a record to work from when you reorder.
Paper pattern
A set of paper templates, one for each piece of the suit, drafted from your measurements. The tailor chalks it onto the fabric, cuts around it and keeps it for future orders.
Several tailors on our list describe how they do it. Manchester Tailor BKK hand-cuts each suit from the client's own paper pattern, King Fashion Uni cuts its full-canvas bespoke suits from a personal pattern, Jesse & Son hand-cuts its patterns, and Nordic Bespoke cuts every garment from the client's own pattern.
Ask where the suit is made, too. Galaxy Tailor does its cutting and sewing on site, Unique Tailor makes everything in its own workshop, and Jesse & Son runs a workshop of more than 20 tailors. A tailor who controls the workroom can make changes between fittings quickly.
- Will you draft a paper pattern for me? The answer should be a clear yes, with the pattern kept for reorders.
- Who cuts the suit, and where is it sewn? Ask to meet the cutter if you can.
- Which construction do you use? Fused (the interlining is bonded to the fabric with heat), half canvas or full canvas. Galaxy Tailor offers all three, and full-canvas suits are the specialty at Narry Bespoke Tailors.
- How many fittings are included? One or two is normal; more should be possible if the suit needs it.
Construction changes how a jacket drapes and how long it lasts. Our guide to fused vs canvas explains the difference and what each costs.
How many fittings should a Bangkok suit have?
Most Bangkok tailors build in one or two fittings, and a good one adds another if the suit needs it. At the first fitting you try a partly made jacket, sometimes loosely tacked together, so the tailor can correct the shoulders, balance, waist and length. At the second you check the nearly finished suit. A suit with no fitting depends entirely on the first set of measurements.
The number varies on our list. Peninsula Bespoke Tailor, Jesse & Son, Nordic Bespoke, Narry Bespoke Tailors, Galaxy Tailor and Manchester Tailor BKK plan one or two. Tailored By Luis and Rajawongse Clothier plan two or three, and King Fashion Uni and Unique Tailor one to three. More fittings take more days, so match the tailor to the time you have.
Stage 1: First visit
Day 1
Style, fabric, measurements, written quote and deposit
Stage 2: First fitting
Day 2
Partly made jacket and trousers; shoulders, balance and length corrected
Stage 3: Second fitting
Day 3
Nearly finished suit; sleeves, hems and waist refined
Stage 4: Collection
Day 3 or 4
Final check, press and packing; balance paid
How do you choose fabric from the fabric books?
The fabric sets most of the price. Every tailor keeps shelves of fabric books, also called bunches, each from a mill or a fabric merchant. A good tailor lets you take your time, tells you which books sit at which price level and steers you toward a fabric that suits the heat and how often you will wear the suit.
| Fabric level | What it is | Effect on price | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard blend | Wool mixed with polyester or another fiber | Usually the advertised starting price | A first suit, travel, a tight budget |
| 100% wool | Worsted wool, often with a Super number | More than the starting price | Business suits worn every week |
| Wool with cashmere, silk, mohair or linen | Wool blended with a softer or cooler fiber | Higher again | Evening wear, a softer hand, the heat |
| Top European mills | The finest Italian and English fabrics | Can take a suit past $1,000 | A suit you plan to keep for years |
Ask the price of each book before you choose. Tailors quote in baht; we convert at about 34 baht to the dollar (November 2026).
Read the label on each swatch. It usually gives the fiber content, the weight in grams per meter and, for fine wools, a Super number such as Super 110s or Super 130s. For Bangkok's heat and cold offices, a light wool of about 220 to 280 g (7 to 9 oz) is a good start. Our guides to reading a fabric bunch and polyester vs wool suits explain the labels and the trade-offs.

What should a written quote include?
A written quote protects you and the tailor. It should name the fabric, list each garment with its details and state the price, the deposit and the dates. Ask for it before you pay anything, and keep a photo of it on your phone.
A good Bangkok quote names
- The fabric: the mill or book, the swatch number and the fiber content.
- Each garment, such as a two-piece suit and two shirts.
- The style details you agreed: lapel, buttons, vents, pockets and trouser front.
- The construction and the lining.
- The total price in baht, the deposit and the balance.
- The fitting dates and the collection date.
- Hotel delivery or shipping, if agreed, and its cost.
- What adjustments are included after collection.
Our list of questions to ask a tailor covers the rest of the conversation.
How long should a good suit take in Bangkok?
Two to four days is the normal Bangkok rhythm, with one or two fittings in between. Several tailors offer express service for travelers short of time. Peninsula Bespoke Tailor and Manchester Tailor BKK offer a 24-hour service, Nordic Bespoke makes a suit in 24 hours at no extra charge, Tailored By Luis works in 24 to 48 hours and King Fashion Uni in 24 to 72 hours. Rajawongse Clothier takes the slower route: about a week, with two or three fittings.

Starting prices for a two-piece suit unless a package is shown, about 34 baht to the dollar (November 2026). The fabric you choose sets the final price.
What service and aftercare should you expect?
Service is part of the Bangkok tradition. Most tailors on our list will collect you or come to you. Peninsula Bespoke Tailor offers a complimentary private chauffeur, Tailored By Luis offers free hotel and airport pickup, Nordic Bespoke and Narry Bespoke Tailors offer free hotel pickup, Galaxy Tailor delivers free to your Bangkok hotel, and King Fashion Uni and Unique Tailor will visit your hotel.
Aftercare matters more once you are home. Ask what happens if the suit needs a change after collection, whether the tailor keeps your pattern and how reorders work. Manchester Tailor BKK offers free alterations for life. Peninsula Bespoke Tailor holds trunk shows in Europe, the United States and Australia, and Narry Bespoke Tailors in the US, Europe and Asia, so returning clients can order and be fitted closer to home.
- Can you adjust the suit if I come back to Bangkok next year?
- Will you keep my pattern and measurements on file?
- Can I reorder by email, and will you send fabric photos or swatches?
- Do you ship finished garments abroad, and how are import duties handled? Our guide to shipping a suit home from Thailand explains the rules.
How do you read reviews of Bangkok tailors?
Reviews are most useful when they describe the suit months later, not just a friendly first visit. Read the recent ones, look for photos of finished suits on real customers and notice how often people say they came back.
- Read for fit. Comments on the shoulders, collar and trousers tell you more than comments on the welcome.
- Check the date. Cutters and staff change, so the last 12 months matter most.
- Look for returning customers. A client on a third or fourth order is a strong sign.
- See how changes were handled. A tailor who adjusts a suit quickly after fair feedback is one to trust.
- Compare sites. Consistent comments across several review sites count for more than one high score.
Awards help as a starting point: Nordic Bespoke, for example, holds a Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award for 2026. Our Bangkok ranking scores each tailor on cut and construction, fit and fittings, reputation over time and service.
Which Bangkok tailor suits your needs?
No single tailor is right for everyone. Start with what the suit is for, the time you have and your budget, then shortlist two or three and visit them.
- A long-established family business: Rajawongse Clothier (since 1961), Peninsula Bespoke Tailor (since 1969) and Narry Bespoke Tailors (since 1977).
- A modern, soft-shouldered cut: Jesse & Son, whose signature is a soft shoulder, a slim waist and a modern Italian line.
- A good suit on a sensible budget: Manchester Tailor BKK, Tailored By Luis and King Fashion Uni, all starting under $200.
- A business trip with a deadline: Nordic Bespoke and Galaxy Tailor, both on Sukhumvit Soi 18 near BTS Asok.
- Careful handwork on shirts: Unique Tailor, whose shirts have hand-stitched collars, cuffs and buttonholes.
Location matters on a short trip. Our guide to Bangkok's tailor districts shows where the tailors cluster and how to reach them.
How should you prepare for your first visit?
Five steps before you order
- 1
Decide what the suit is for
Business, a wedding, evenings out or travel. The answer sets the fabric weight, the color and the construction.
- 2
Bring references
Bring photos of suits you like and a jacket that fits you well, and wear the shirt and shoes you plan to wear with the suit.
Tip: A jacket you already love shows the tailor the length and shoulder you prefer.
- 3
Name your budget
Say it at the start, so the tailor opens the right fabric books first.
- 4
Agree the quote and the dates
Get the fabric, the price, the fittings and the collection date in writing before you pay a deposit.
- 5
Keep a day in hand
Plan to collect the suit at least a day before you fly, so there is time for a final adjustment.

Questions people ask
How do I find a good tailor in Bangkok?
To find a good tailor in Bangkok, shortlist two or three with strong recent reviews, then visit and ask how they make the pattern, how many fittings they offer and which fabric books they use. A good tailor gives you a written quote that names the fabric and the dates. TailorGuide's Bangkok ranking lists ten tailors with prices, turnaround and fittings.
How much does a good bespoke suit cost in Bangkok?
At the ten tailors on TailorGuide's Bangkok ranking, a two-piece bespoke suit starts from about $145 to $410 in 2026. The fabric sets most of the final price: a standard blend costs least, 100% wool costs more, and suits in the top European fabrics can pass $1,000.
How many days do you need to have a suit made in Bangkok?
Allow three to four days to have a suit made in Bangkok, which leaves time for one or two fittings and a spare day for adjustments. Several tailors offer 24-hour or 48-hour express service, and some prefer about a week with two or three fittings.
What should I bring to a tailor in Bangkok?
Bring photos of suits you like, a jacket that fits you well and the shirt and shoes you plan to wear with the new suit. Know your budget and what the suit is for. These help a Bangkok tailor choose the right fabric and cut from the first visit.
Will a Bangkok tailor keep my measurements for future orders?
Most established Bangkok tailors keep your pattern or measurements on file, so you can reorder by email after you go home. Ask about this before you order. Some Bangkok tailors also hold trunk shows abroad, where returning clients can be measured and fitted again.
Do Bangkok tailors pick you up from your hotel?
Many Bangkok tailors do. Several on TailorGuide's ranking offer free hotel pickup or a private car, and some will come to your hotel for fittings and deliver the finished suit there. Ask when you book your first visit.
Should you pay a deposit to a Bangkok tailor?
Yes, a deposit is normal at a Bangkok tailor, because the fabric is cut for you at the start. Pay it once you have a written quote that names the fabric, the total price, the fitting dates and the collection date, and pay the balance when you collect.
